The City of Sonoma is a historic community located in the heart of the Northern California wine country. Approximately 45 minutes from San Francisco, Sonoma offers vine-covered hills, a historic downtown, and some of the most famous wineries in the world including Sebastiani Vineyards, Ravenswood Winery, and Buena Vista Carneros.
The Sonoma Plaza, a square in the center of town, is a wonderful, pedestrian-oriented place. A number of boutique specialty shops and world-renowned restaurants and hotels tempt every taste and palate. Immediately surrounding the Plaza are a number of historic structures. Many date back to the Bear Flag Revolt (and before), which freed California from Mexico’s rule. In the center of the plaza is a wonderful, shaded park inhabited by a variety of ducks and several play structures. Don’t miss the Sonoma Cheese Factory where delicious samples are available for tasting.
