Restaurants

Santa Fe plays host to a number of fantastic restaurants. Traditional, old-style Santa Fe restaurants serve New Mexican fare, which combines both Native American and Hispanic traditions. Many of the better restaurants in town serve a contemporary regional style of cooking that blends New Mexican ingredients and preparations with those of interior and coastal Mexico, Latin America, the Mediterranean, East Asian, and parts of the United States. There are also wonderful Italian restaurants, and a growing number of excellent Asian eateries.
Some local favorites include The Anasazi Restaurant, an award-winning restaurant, offering a blend or Native American, northern New Mexican, and traditional Old West flavors. Dishes are prepared with regionally grown vegetables and exotic spices. The menu changes regularly, but typical items include fish, game, and an assortment of appetizers and desserts. Geronimo is an elegant restaurant that is known for their mesquite-grilled beef tenderloin and fresh cannelloni. It has won several local awards for best entree and best overall cuisine. The Old House specializes in New Southwestern cuisine, and is popular among locals. Enjoy good service, candlelit ambience, a fireplace and magnificent furnishings. Another popular eatery is Cafe Pasqual's. The historic pueblo-style adobe is located one block southwest of the plaza, in the heart of downtown Santa Fe. Browse the hand-painted Mexican tiles and murals by Mexican painter Leovigildo Martines and then sit down to a wonderful and bountiful Southwestern breakfast.
