Amid the elegance of Park and Lexington Avenues, the charming and intimate Brownstone has developed a loyal following among international travelers and families who seek out its quiet atmosphere and spacious and charming rooms/suites.
Rooms reflect a gracious pre-War style and retain Old World charm. All rooms have been individually styled with much attention to detail, and feature high ceilings (with the exception of the Mission Studio), ornate marble and/or wood fireplaces and other pre-War details.
1871 House was honored to become Country Living Magazine's "Inn of the Month" (September 2004) as well as to be included in Alan Sperry's guidebook: "100 best little hotels in New York City" (2003). 1871 House has also been reviewed and included in numerous other guidebooks and miscellaneous publications including DK New York's Eguide (2004), Maxim Magazine, Esquire Magazine, Petra Magazine and Frommers "The Unofficial Guide to B&Bs and Country Inns of the Mid-Atlantic States (2002)."

Parlor Room: Romantic room overlooking beautiful townhouses. Queen iron & brass bed, beautiful sofa, antiques & many prints on the wall. Oriental rug & large gilded mirror over the working fireplace. Kitchenette & renovated full bathroom with tub.
Great Room: If you are lucky enough to be here during warm weather, the Great Room is a nice choice since it has the good fortune of having a terrace. Its potted plants, along with a table and chairs, provide your own Urban Eden.
