![]() The Thomas House Bed and Breakfast is not only a block from the Arkansas River, surrounded by fourteeners, but also at the heart of Salida lodging history. The Thomas House continues to provide accommodations to many of these visitors as the premier Salida lodging property. The Thomas House Bed and Breakfast in Salida, CO offers the comfort of a country inn with the convenience of town lodging, making it an ideal location for all of your travel needs whether you’re planning an extended vacation or just a private weekend getaway. Relax in the Reading Room downstairs. It is furnished with the latest newspaper and magazines. The living room has a pellet stove and digital cable television for your enjoyment. The kitchenette at the end of the hall is available to all of our guests. We keep it stocked with coffee and tea, as well sodas in the fridge and there is always a jar of pretzels from which to help yourselves. We have a very large outdoor hot tub, available to all guests from 3 pm to 9:30 pm daily. We also have many roomy decks and patios and beautiful flower beds. The true rooming house style, Mt. Ouray, Mt Yale, Mt. Antero, and Mt. Shavano all share a common sitting room with television and kitchenette. Each room has a private bath. Area Attractions and Activities: Whitewater rafting, hiking, mountain biking, hot springs, day spa, cross-country and downhill skiing, Steamplant Theater, golf, historic district, gold medal fishing. Driving into Chaffee County and Salida the sign reads,"Now This Is Colorado." With more warmth and sunshine, world famous river rapids, and more 14,000 ft. peaks than any other county, the slogan is certainly not an overstatement. The Arkansas River Valley is also a paradise for recreation. Monarch Ski Area is nearby and boasts the best in powder skiing, with both downhill and cross country trails. Many area river rafting outfitters offer every kind of river experience, from a meandering day admiring the scenery or fly fishing, to class V rapids. The Salida, CO area also has a natural hot springs pool, a golf course, an award-winning winery, as well as many hiking and biking trails, including the famous Monarch Crest Trail on the Continental Divide.
