Bed and Breakfast Description

Famous for its food and southern hospitality, the Hotel Strasburg is completely and authentically renovated to turn-of-the-century Victorian elegance. Always gracious, the hotel staff awaits you with warm smiles and friendly greetings whether it's your first visit or you're a long-time patron.

Tastefully decorated with many antique period pieces of furniture and an impressive collection of art, guests are invited to wander through the inn's dining rooms and quaintly renovated sleeping rooms (some with Jacuzzis).

Furnishings and accessories are antiques in Queen Anne, Renaissance Revival and Eastlake styles. Armchairs sporting frilly antimacassars (protection against a gentleman's overly pomaded head) sit beside lace-curtained windows. Most of the hotel's furnishings are part of an exhaustive collection of authentic antiques. Guests are invited to enjoy strolling from room to room in this living antique museum. Most are available for purchase if a guest discovers a piece of particular interest! Spending the night in one of the finely appointed rooms or Jacuzzi suites is truly a romantic experience.

Breakfast is a generous continental offering of juice, coffee, tea or milk, Danish, bagel, English muffin or cereal on weekdays with a full breakfast on weekends. Lunch is also served in the dining room. A light fare menu is available in the congenial Depot Lounge, which is decorated in railroad memorabilia, Tiffany lamps and stained glass windows.

Just around the corner is the famous Wayside Theatre, where seasonal performances offer theatergoers a rare opportunity to experience off-Broadway performances in intimate surroundings.

History and Civil War buffs will enjoy Stonewall Jackson Museum, Belle Grove Plantation and the Strasburg Museum, all close by.

For outdoor adventure, trek into the wilds of the Shenandoah National Forest, the Massanutten Mountains, and the breathtaking Skyline Drive. Enjoy the many hiking, canoeing, or horseback riding opportunities. Just minutes away is Half Moon Beach which is ideal for picnics, swimming, boating and fishing.
