Rooms to Let

New York City, New York.

Greek Revival residence, c.1840, retains much of its original feeling. In historic Greenwich Village, moments away from the trendy Meatpacking District with designer shops and fashionable clubs. A calm, quiet retreat from the action found all around.

Bed and Breakfast Description

New York City, New York bed and breakfast: Rooms to Let

Standing on the front stoop you can watch the sun setting over the Hudson, and, if you are lucky, the QM2 may be passing. At street level you will see an alleyway entrance, once a "horsewalk" that led to a two-story building at the rear. The stable disappeared many years ago, and what is left is a large garden which all guests are encouraged to enjoy. Sitting there in the evening, you can see the lights of The Empire State Building, a beacon to the north. Inside, the parlor floor is filled with antiques and paintings.

A curved staircase leads to the second floor where three rooms are available for guests. There are two large double rooms, one with a queen size bed and the other with twin beds. Both rooms have air conditioning, light, views and comfortable furnishings. The large modern bathroom is shared by the guests on that floor. I am a painter and the 3rd floor is my own pied-a-terre and studio. There is also a single room on that floor that shares a bathroom with me.

I love New York. I love Greenwich Village, and I love my house. I think you will too.

    Area Attractions and Activities:

Within the boundaries of Greenwich Village are the oldest houses, the most historic landmarks (but not the tallest!), and the quaintest streets. A short walk from the tranquil, tree-lined Horatio Street, you will find jazz clubs, cafes, bars, restaurants of every ethnic variety and price, off-Broadway theatres, art galleries, bookstores, and trash and treasures of every description. The creative talent and vitality that has always been the hallmark of The Village still abounds. New in the neighborhood is the suddenly trendy Meatpacking District with designer shops, clubs, and restaurants. The magnificent new Hudson River Park is at the end of the block and you can walk to Battery Park and the Statue of Liberty viewing the skyline as you go. Turning again onto Horatio Street you are back in my garden filled with birds and flowers.
