This 1835 Federal Style residence has been transformed by the architect / innkeeper into an elegant 5-room inn, showcasing the work of regional artists. With each changing season, the Artful Lodger offers a changing palette of activities.

Bed and Breakfast Description

Choose a king, queen, or twin room overlooking the Village Green or the tree-lined grounds. Every room is smoke-free and features private bath en suite with alarm clock/radio, hairdryer, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. Air conditioning and ceiling fans will keep you cool. Business travelers will appreciate the in-room writing desk and wireless internet access.

Relax in the evening with a cup of tea and your favorite selection from our "book exchange". Feel free to take a book home with you, or deposit a book for the enjoyment of a fellow traveler. Are you musical? Unwind at our dining room piano.

The "gift corner" features traditional pottery by Hamilton's Susanne Farrington, Bed & Breakfast cookbooks and guide books, and delicious New York State maple syrup. Or you may choose to bring home an Artful Lodger ironstone mug and chef's apron.

Start your day off right with a deliciously unique full hot breakfast. Our entrée items may include oven-baked French toast stuffed with seasonal fresh fruit and accompanied by the area's finest sausage, or an egg and cheese soufflé served with homemade oatmeal bread and Canadian bacon. Our vegetarian and low fat choices include fresh fruit parfait with low-fat organic yogurt and granola, a bowl of hot oatmeal, or a selection of cold cereals. Our fresh pastured eggs are delivered to our door from a local farm.

Scollard Room: This stately first floor room offers a commanding view of the Village Green, and features a queen sleigh bed, cherry armoire and antique writing desk. The tub and water closet in the attached bath are equipped with grab bars for safety.

Kirkland Room: Our largest room overlooks the Village Green and fountain, and boasts a king bed, full-size sofa bed, full closet and antique mahogany writing desk. The attached sky-lit bath has a full tub/shower.
