Bed and Breakfast Description

The Gables is nestled in the middle of Philadelphia, in a section known as University City. This is a residential community developed around the turn of the last century. It boasts an eclectic grouping of Victorian homes and Edwardian townhouses. Many are now being restored, making the neighborhood dynamic and exciting. Many new restaurants are opening bringing people to University City from all over Philadelphia.

University City's location makes it a neighborhood for people from all walks of life, many of whom not only live but also work in the area.

Free off-street parking on the premises. Each room has phone, data port, wireless internet access, cable TV, cd players, hair dryers and alarm clocks. Robes, plush towels, 100% cotton sheets with lace and embroidery. A full breakfast is served each morning.

Public transportation stops right in front of the house and gets to The University of PA in 5 minutes and center city Philadelphia in 12 minutes. Amtrak's 30th Street is about 10 minutes away and the airport about 20.

Most Popular Rooms:

The Victorian Suite is the master bedroom with a glass enclosed porch. The bathroom has a large sink and the original soaking tub & shower. There is a queen sized canopy bed draped in lace, a carved armoire, library and a realistic electric fireplace.

Christmas Room is filled with antique toys and decorated with red, white and green. A queen sized four poster bed, mahogany armoire, sitting area and electric Ben Franklin style stove make this a very inviting room. A cot may be added to accommodate 3.

Check In Instructions:

An estimated check-in time is requested when making a reservation. Check-in is preferred after 1 PM and must be before 10 PM. The innkeepers live on site but are not always home so an approximate arrival time is vital for greeting guests.
