Bed and Breakfast Description

Barretta Gardens Inn is an elegantly restored 1904 Victorian farmhouse, fully central air-conditioned and well known for its special warm atmosphere and Gold Country views.

The Inn was built at the turn of the 19th century by Albert L. Kleinecke, an executive for Standard Lumber Co., on a steep hillside overlooking the gold rush town of Sonora. It has been lovingly restored to its historic ambiance and is one the most well-known bed and breakfast inns in the southern Gold Country.

Whatever time of year you choose to visit our Victorian Bed and Breakfast Inn, you'll find something unique to do. Our shady porches offer quiet views of fragrant gardens and foothill sunsets in the warm seasons.

Enjoy relaxing in our living room with fireplace, formal dining room with crystal chandelier, first and second floor parlors or our cheery breakfast porch. We offer five tastefully decorated non-smoking bedrooms with private bathrooms.

Lodging is available for small wedding parties. Our old fashioned gazebo, makes a perfect site for weddings under 20 people or vow renewals with close family and friends.

Each of the five guest rooms at Barretta Garden Inn are distinctive in decor and ambiance. Our rooms have king, queen and twin beds. All have private bathrooms. In-room amenities include fresh flowers, bottled water, candy, satellite television with VCR, wireless internet connection, bathrobes, hair dryers, iron and ironing board. The room rate includes afternoon refreshments as well.

Although located only a 10-minute walk to the center of Sonora, our landscaped gardens give you the feel of staying in the middle of a beautiful park.

After a day of wine tasting, hiking, golfing, fishing, swimming, antique hunting or caving, take a nap in the shade of majestic oak trees, or go skiing and then warm-up and unwind in a Jacuzzi tub.

We are ideally situated for you to visit Yosemite, Calaveras Big Trees, Columbia State Park, Railtown 1895 State Park, Murphy's, Moaning Caverns, Dodge Ridge ski resort or Pinecrest Lake, for hiking, rafting, fishing, golfing, wine tasting or antiquing.

Enjoy relaxing in the antique decorated Cabernet Sauvignon Suite, with its two person spa and its adjoining solarium/sitting room, both with a wall of windows overlooking the foothills of Sonora. Private entrance.

The Tempranillo: With whirlpool tub, overlooks the gardens and foothills, and has a wall of windows shimmering with lacy curtains.
