![]() In 1976 it became the Inn at Oley, one of the first fine dining French restaurants in the country. In 1987, Steven A. Yeanish, an honor graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, purchased the Inn, now known as the Oley Valley Inn. In 1991, Barrie D. Frain joined the Inn as Maitre d'Hotel. Restoration of our Bed & Breakfast rooms was completed in 1997. A stairway to the portico provides a separate entrance for our guests. Upon entering, a common sitting room offers cable television and refrigerator is stocked with bottled water, soda and juice for your enjoyment. Relax in the library with Steve's 400-volume cookbook collection, current magazines and books of local interest. Wake up to a full gourmet breakfast served in our Kitchen dining room or outdoor patio (weather permitting), with our homemade sticky buns and fresh squeezed orange juice. Choose from four charming rooms. The Montreal Suite, with its rich tapestry wall covering sitting room, Brewster, inspired by Cape Cod with antique walnut furniture and Nautical pieces, Newport, a grand room with honey oak and maple furnishings, or Calistoga, a charming retreat to the wine country, with full size iron bed and a cozy cottage look. The Inn serves dinner Tuesday through Friday from 5:30 PM - 9:30 PM, Saturday 5:00 PM - 9:30 PM and Sunday Brunch from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM. (Sunday Brunch is not served during the month of August). Reservations are suggested. Area Attractions and Activities: The Oley Valley is a valley 10 miles northeast of Reading, Pennsylvania. It covers all of Oley, Pike, Ruscombmanor, Alsace and part of Exeter Township. At the center of the valley is the village of Oley. The village has a strong Pennsylvania Dutch and historical heritage, and is one of two historical districts in the entire United States. The first European settlers in the Oley Valley arrived in the early 1700s. The settlers were primarily German along with French Huguenots and Swedes seeking religious freedom. One of the Valleys early residents was Mordecai Lincoln, great-grandfather of Abraham Lincoln,16th President of United States. The Lincoln Homestead can still be seen and visited in what is now Exeter Township. Another one of the Valley’s early residents was the Boone family. Daniel Boone the famous pioneer was born in Oley in 1734. Oley is home to the Reading Motorcycle club which has met annually in Oley for the past 65 years. Newport: A grand room with honey oak and maple furnishings, queen size bed with burl maple headboard with mother of pearl inlay and rich floral touches throughout.
