Carrabelle, Florida bed and breakfast: The Old Carrabelle Hotel
Enjoy the island-style ambience daily in various relaxing activity areas, or just rock your cares away on our fabulous wraparound verandas while taking in the scenic views of the harbor.

The Old Carrabelle Hotel was totally renovated in 2001, so all A/C and plumbing is "brand-new".

You have your choice of five creatively designed sleeping rooms, 3 apartments and 2 beachview rooms, each with a private bath. Ask us about the new Oyster Cabin efficiency apartment on the grounds - sleeps 4 or more!

The whole town and harborfront is walkable, including dining choices. We are soon to be listed as a historical attraction on the developing Big Bend Scenic Byway, which will follow Highway 98 all along our coast. The folks working on that project have compiled a booklet of hundreds of "Things To Do" in the area. Just a great and (up til now) undiscovered destination where you can put your feet up and "chill"!

From the Carrabelle location, you can make day trips (furthest is 35 minutes) east, west or north. St. George Island, Apalachicola, St. Mark's, Wakulla Springs, Tate's Hell State Forest, Apalachicola National Forest...see everything from a dwarf cypress tree grove (the only one in the world) to manatees in a crystal-clear river to working shrimp boats, up close and personal. Development is on the verge of happening, but for now, you are just as likely to have a Great Blue Heron walk with you on the white sand beach, as another person!
Area Attractions and Activities:
The picturesque village of Carrabelle lies approximately one hour southwest of Tallahassee. Our completely renovated, 120 year-old home is at the center of this gentle coastal town, only a block from the harbor.

Carrabelle boasts a colorful history dating back well before the Civil War. It holds stories of lumbering, fishing, smuggling, shipping and military lore (WWII troops trained in Top Secret on our beaches for the Normandy invasion - now we can tell you all about it, and even have a museum on the subject).

Nature exploration and many other outdoor activities are on our doorstep. From fishing and island-hopping to exploring deep forests or soaking up abundant sunshine on our sugar-sand beaches, there is something memorable for all on this lovely and secluded Forgotten Coast.

As a base for day trips, Carrabelle is central between St. George Island and Apalachicola to the west, and St. Marks and Wakulla Springs to the east.

Oh, like fresh seafood? Any way you want it!!
Services:
The Key West courtyard is available with paddle fan, open-air furnishings, wet bar & room to chill!
Most Popular Rooms:
Hemingway: "Papa slept here" is the impression you'll get from carved African masks, mosquito netting, unfinished woodwork and an unearthed fireplace in the bathroom. (However, the plaque outside the door says "Hemingway Never Set Foot in This Place".)
Regatta: Crisp blue & white linens beckon you to skipper your own ship. Authentic steamer trunk, boating prints and nautical touches throughout this queen bedroom help you sail away from the daily on-land race. And its compactness brings a compact price!
