![]() The Captain's House is conveniently located just a mile and a half from the center of Rockport. It is a few hundred yards across the water from Straitsmouth Island, an Audubon bird sanctuary with a single lighthouse. There is also a clear view to Thacher Island to the South with its unique twin lighthouses. A continental breakfast is served on the sun porch overlooking the ocean. Each of the five bedrooms and five baths is tastefully decorated. Area Attractions and Activities: Local scenic excursions include Halibut State Park, Thacher Island, Schooner Appledore, whalewatching and the John Kieran Nature Preserve. Outdoor energetic pursuits include kayak rental and tours, bike rental, deep sea and shoreline fishing. There is a wide range of dining options from casual seafood restaurants overlooking Rockport harbor, to fine American and International cuisine. Rockport Town has six beaches, numerous art galleries and a wide range of shopping on Main Street and Bear Skin Neck. There are tennis courts and a golf course in town. And if all that seems too much, you can always hang out and relax at the Captain's House instead.
