Bed and Breakfast Description

El Portal is nature at its finest. An intimate retreat with a unique blending of the ancient earth together with the most luxurious comforts and convenience of today.

Experience the true spirit of Sedona. Architectural highlights include 200 year-old wood, 18” thick hand-sculptured walls, one-of-a-kind entry doors and handmade ceramic art tiles, high ceilings and archways. Historic interiors include original pieces by Frank Lloyd Wright, Stickley, Warren Hile and others.

Twelve spacious and comfortable suites have been created with the simplicity and function of turn-of-the-century aesthetics, yet bringing all the convenience and service a modern traveler would desire. With the welcoming atmosphere of an authentic hacienda, El Portal provides each guest suite with private entrance, luxury 3-sheeted bed, entertainment center with DVD, computer portal and more. Most rooms have private patio and fireplace.

El Portal is located in Sedona’s most convenient and desirable location: adjacent to renowned Tlaquepaque with its unique collection of fine galleries and other attractions, all within walking distance of more than 200 upscale shops and restaurants.

Area Attractions and Activities:

There are so many pleasurable ways to explore Sedona and the surrounding countryside while staying at El Portal. By special arrangement with Los Abrigados resort just across Portal Lane, El Portal guests have full use of Los Abrigados Spa and pool facility. Stroll the beautiful tree-lined avenues at Tlaquepaque and enjoys its many shops, galleries and restaurants.

Just next door to us is the Hummingbird House, a historic landmark built in 1926 and now a lovely gift shop. For the adventurer, a trip to the backcountry is a must; we recommend Jeep tours with the Adventure Company, particularly the Broken Arrow trip.

For a customized guided tour or hike, Earth Adventures is the premier guide in Sedona. Grand Canyon and the lower Colorado River helicopter rides and trips that can be arranged. Verde Canyon Railroad provides a four hour round trip of the Verde river canyon and all its wildlife.

The Flat Rock Hickory: Bedroom with king bed plus sitting room with a day bed, a private 20’ x 20’ courtyard, beehive fireplace, bath with high vaulted ceiling, whirlpool clawfoot tub and corner bay window with a view of the garden. A pet friendly room.

The Grand Canyon: This spacious room is truly a work of art. Flagstone entry, peeled log beam and rafter ceiling, rock fireplace, deep alcove with king bed. Breathtaking views from the private patio. Bathroom has a shower and soaking tub.
