Bed and Breakfast Description

Edith Palmer's Country Inn was established in a Victorian home built in 1863. Originally, the home belonged to the E. H. Morton and he and his wife resided in the house. Morton also owned the Cider Factory, the rock room to the rear of the house. It manufactured cider and vinegar for the Comstock. Alf Doten, a well know journalist from that era, described the process in his diary. He also was a resident of the property as he was a former schoolmate and friend of Morton's.
Edith Palmer, a renowned cook and innkeeper, started the Inn after she bought the property in 1948. Edith was a gourmet chef winning many awards and accolades. She served dinners by reservation only and started the Inn by renting rooms in her home to accommodate dinner guests. Edith was the host to many renowned guests including Marilyn Monroe, Liberace, Robert Goulet, the crews from Bonanza and Wagon Train and many, many more.
Today the Inn has been completely remodeled and refurbished including redecorating all the guest rooms, rebuilding the rock terraces, and restoring the original floor plan of the home. Additions of the Storey House and the Silver Street House have increased the available rooms. A fourth house is undergoing reconstruction and will be added to the Inn sometime in the future.
If you choose to stay at Edith Palmer's Country Inn, you will enjoy a lovely room, fantastic views, and quiet mountain nights.
