![]() Built on the ancient Anasazi site of the San Marcos Pueblo, this charming adobe hacienda is located only 25 minutes south of the Santa Fe plaza on the historic Turquoise Trail. The Crystal Mesa Farm is conveniently situated to ensure easy access to the abundant culture of downtown Santa Fe yet beckons with the lure of wide open spaces, stunning sunset vistas and endlessly glittering night skies. To gaze from our deck upon the subtle play of light and shadow across the flowing expanse of desert is to understand why so many artists and writers have been drawn to this area for centuries. Right out the back door there are acres of arroyos and mesas to explore with golden hawks riding the winds above to escort you on your journey. Watch for cottontails and coyotes, look for indian pottery shards to surface after a summer rain, or stay on the Farm visiting with our own collection of furred and feathered residents - a menagerie of diminutive animals including miniature donkeys, pygmy goats, and pot-bellied pigs - guaranteed to charm adults and children alike. Begin your morning by sitting down to a gourmet continental breakfast and drinking in one of the area's prettiest views. Relax during the twilight in our common area with its cozy conversation pit. Warm yourself in front of our ‘kiva’ fireplace or antique wood burning cook stove. Peruse our extensive library for information on local wildlife, history, Native American sites both ancient and modern. Area Attractions and Activities: Visit the charmingly revitalized Madrid, the ‘Woodstock of the West’, a coal mining ‘ghost town’ turned artists’ mecca, filled with history, funky eateries, and unique shops, or historic ‘ghost towns’ Cerillos, Golden, and Waldo, as well as some of the best horseback riding around. Drive through our gates and onto County Road 42, and you’re on your way to historic Galisteo, home to early pueblo-style dwellings and the world famous ‘Light Institute’. Santa Fe is a wonderland of shops, museums, Native American handicrafts, laid-back nightlife, and some of the oldest, most awe-inspiring architecture in North America. Visit the magnificent summit of the Sandia Mountains, Sandia Crest (10,678 ft). Venture into the Sandia Mountain Wilderness and discover one spectacular view after another. Year round recreation includes Alpine skiing in winter at Sandia Peak Ski Area and a relaxing scenic chairlift ride gliding over the Cibola National Forest during summer-winter months. Most Popular Rooms: The Tipi: The more adventurous can follow the Tipi Trail to our Sioux tipi, with its platform futon, flagstone floor, sheepskins, and central fire pit. Its warmth and charm, even in the winter months, is not to be missed. The Sunset Room features a west-facing terrace and queen-size bed. An Apache ladder leads to a meditation loft with breathtaking views of the sunset and starry night skies. |
