![]() We invite you to experience Newport, Rhode Island's most luxurious Bed and Breakfast, the Francis Malbone House. Our historic Inn, an elegantly restored Colonial Newport Mansion, offers beautiful bedrooms, gracious sitting rooms and manicured gardens. Our personal attention to our guests and their needs is unparalleled in Newport. The Francis Malbone House has been lovingly maintained throughout the years, as evidenced by the painstaking restoration undertaken during the early 1970's. The estate was built in 1760 for Colonel Francis Malbone who made his fortune as a shipping merchant. The design of the house is attributed to Peter Harrison, "America's First Architect", who is also responsible for the Touro Synagogue and the Redwood Library. In 1996, a sensitively designed addition was added, allowing the inn to expand from nine to a total of eighteen luxurious guestrooms. In 2000, our most recent expansion was completed when we purchased and restored the Benjamin Mason House, a freestanding colonial home, c. 1750. The Benjamin Mason House features a suite and a guestroom bringing our total number of rooms to twenty. Treat yourself to a bit of colonial history by joining us, and we are confident that your first visit will be the first of many.
