Bed and Breakfast Description

Situated on a mountainside, overlooking one of Stowe's most photographed views, sits Ten Acres Lodge. "Ten Acres Lodge... has the feeling of a country estate. The grounds seem much more expansive because of the surrounding woods and pastures," Bon Appetit magazine.

The main lodge contains seven spacious Vermont Inn rooms, each individually furnished with a mixture of country furniture and antiques. The Hill House Suites are situated atop a shady knoll, all with woodburning fireplaces with sitting areas, private balconies, private baths with double sinks and cable television. A two bedroom cottage in the woods is also available for those who require more space.

At the end of the day, relax in our outdoor hot tub or sauna before settling in for drinks and dinner at our classic Vermont Inn restaurant.

Decorated throughout with period antiques and unique offerings from around the world, the common areas have a blend of old and new. Based on their experiences of living abroad, the innkeepers have added touches to the lodge not found in other B&Bs.

Other amenities: all day you can enjoy coffee, tea, soft drinks and our exclusive Ten Acres Hot Chocolate.

Campfire nights: on select nights, a campfire is made for guests so marshmallows can be roasted, s'mores are consumed and perhaps a few songs are sung! Sorry, we can’t provide the guitar player, but you can sing anyway!

Afternoon Tea: teas from around the world are offered as well as scones, cookies and more!

Vermont is a special place. It reminds one of a simpler time, where life was slower and you knew all your neighbors. Vermont is special because of its natural beauty and because of its people.

Stowe is famous for being a year round resort. Being rated the best ski resort in the eastern USA, skiing and all winter activities are in abundance here. Alpine skiing, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, sleigh rides, skating and more.

But you don't need snow to have fun in Stowe. Excellent hiking trails are all around for all levels of hikers. Bike trails are everywhere. Several excellent golf courses are within 30 mins. Trout fishing in Vermont is renowned and is close to Stowe.

Try visiting the Ben and Jerry's Ice cream factory. Or watch Apple cider being made... or glass blowing. Visit the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory. In summer, take the gondola up Mount Mansfield for spectacular views of the Green Mountains.

Most Popular Rooms:

Room 10: An elegant, antique like room with private bath and a king size bed. A spectacular view of a meadow, complete with dairy cows, and mountains in the background, adds to the special nature of this room.

Room 21: The centerpiece of this room is the beautiful, ornate cream colored queen size poster bed with an ornate plantation headboard. The contrast between the cream bed and the burgundy and gold floral comforter is striking. Woodburning fireplace.
