Lexington, Virginia bed and breakfast: Applewood Inn & Llama Trekking

This passive solar home is furnished with antiques, reproductions, quilts and original artwork with massive lodge-style south-facing porches that afford lovely views of the gardens, surrounding woods, hillside pastures grazed by llamas and the distant mountains.

Wonderful year-round porches. Also available: picnic llama treks, long weekend dinner packages. Three rooms with fireplaces, two with whirlpool, one with private hot tub. Full in-ground swimming pool with gas grill available for guest use. A guest pantry area offers a large range of complimentary beverages including one of the largest tea selections you will find anywhere.
There is also a small refrigerator for guest use stocked with soda.

Guest dogs are accommodated in the European Room and occasionally the Quilter's Room. Families of three or four may be accommodated in the Quilter's Room only (children must be at least 6 years old).

Llama treks are a unique offering at Applewood. Each trekker leads a llama while trek leaders provide info on llamas and the native plants & wildlife. Treks are available Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, usually 10-12am with an optional picnic lunch. The terrain is hilly and beautiful.

In season, breakfasts utilize on site and locally grown organic produce. Home made jams are for sale as well as Linda's watercolors, locally made natural soaps, cards and inn cookbooks.

Most Popular Rooms:

Quilter's Room: Large room with queen 4-poster bed, as well as a single bed, gas fireplace, & double whirlpool tub/shower combination. Done in Williamsburg Blue, cream, and red accents, with many quilted pieces. Room for a cot for a small 4th person.

European Room: Queen bedded room with gas log fireplace, decorated with original drawings and prints from central Europe. Private bath with shower plus a private hot tub. French doors open onto a small porch adjacent the hot-tub.
