Barncastle
Blue Hill, Maine.
Built in the 1880’s, Barncastle was the first of Blue Hill’s grand summer cottages. A boutique hotel and restaurant, still welcoming summer visitors to Blue Hill more than 120 years later.
Bed and Breakfast Description

Known also as the Kline Cottage and Ideal Lodge, the sprawling home was designed by Boston City Architect and native son George Clough for Virgil & Effie Kline, she the eccentric manager of the Boston Ideal Opera Company. Her love of the stage is reflected in this highly theatrical home.
Barncastle is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and in recent years has been operated as an Inn, Arcady Downeast.
Barncastle is the perfect year-round venue for events from 10 to 150 guests. The North Lawn is contained by a lilac hedge and features a rose-covered arbor, fruit trees and perennial gardens. The lawn is ideal for tented ceremonies and receptions for up to 150 guests.
