The Governor's House In Hyde Park

Centerpiece of quiet Hyde Park village, Governor's House offers modern comfort with the gracious elegance of an earlier time. Bedroom fireplaces. Afternoon tea. Intimate weddings. Jane Austen weekends. Many specials and the perfect elopement package.

Bed and Breakfast Description

Hyde Park, Vermont bed and breakfast: The Governor's House In Hyde Park

In 1893, Vermont Governor Carroll Page built a copy of the famous Longfellow House for his family in Hyde Park, with the latest gas-lighting fixtures, a drinking fountain of Vermont marble, and beautiful mantelpieces made-to-order in Boston.

Many of the original features survived the century, and the house has been fully restored and decorated to preserve the gracious elegance of an earlier time. So when you're ready for a very comfortable stay, you'll find a warm welcome at the Governor's House.

You'll also find fresh flowers and fresh Toll House cookies, deep antique clawfoot tubs and cozy reading nooks, hi-speed Internet and cable, VCRs and CD players in your room, popcorn and Ben & Jerry's while you watch one of almost 600 videos, an elegant parlor to enjoy afternoon tea, and a stately back portico for enjoying cold lemonade or warm mulled cider with a mountain view.

Nearby, there is everything from summer ice skating to glider lessons, wine tasting & picnics to dog sledding. It's worth the trip from anywhere, even the 21st Century.
