Bed and Breakfast Description

The Colonel Williams Inn has been a landmark on Route 9 in Southern Vermont for many years. Situated on nine acres of meadows overlooking a beautiful spring-fed pond, this historic colonial farmhouse was built for Colonel William Williams in 1769. In 1777 Colonel Williams led a militia from the east side of the Green Mountains at the Battle of Bennington.
The main house, which was converted to an inn in the 1960's, has 9 magnificent bedrooms, all with private bath. Many of the rooms have fireplaces. The Carriage House, with its large bedrooms and efficiency kitchens, are perfect for families. The Inn guests can enjoy the indoor ambiance while reading in the fireplace lounge, playing the piano in the parlor, or having a drink in the authentic colonial reproduction tavern. Guests can enjoy dinner in the romantic dining room which features regional European cuisine. The chef/owner delights in producing delicious gourmet meals for his guests.
Outdoors, guests can enjoy the panoramic views of the Green Mountains while lying in the hammock, sitting in the Adirondack chairs, or sipping a glass of wine on the deck overlooking the pond.
The former dairy barn (85' x 45', 4 stories high!) was built in 1805 and has been recently restored. It has a band stage, dance floor, special lighting, loft, bar, and table seating area. It is a spectacular place for country weddings and family reunions.
