Bed and Breakfast Description

Williston, Vermont bed and breakfast: Catamount B&B

Created in 1978, Catamount is an ongoing experiment in outdoor recreation. Originally a cross country ski center, Catamount has evolved into a mountain bike center, a bed & breakfast, and a host for many great events and camps. Recently, the business became a not for profit with the goal of preserving this valuable property for people to use and enjoy well into the future. Located in Williston, VT on 500 beautiful acres are over 20 miles of professionally designed and maintained trails for both winter and summer use. The property has been in the family since 1873. Come explore Catamount and see what we have to offer...

The house, built in 1796, was originally built for Giles Chittenden by Vermont's first Governor Thomas Chittenden. Many of the Chittenden households grace the area, this one being part of the farm where Thomas once resided. Giles Chittenden almost lost the house and farm to his creditors but made a quick sale to his uncle to avoid the foreclosure. Story goes, that he sold the property for a mere dollar and after his death his wife purchased the house and property back for the same amount and resold to a prominent Williston family, the Millers.

In 1873 ancestors of the McCullough's purchased the property and ran it as a dairy farm until the mid-fifties. In the mid seventies people started to use the property for Nordic skiing. In 1978 Jim and Lucy started the Catamount Family Center. As years passed, they ventured in expanding into other sports.
