Bed and Breakfast Description

Northfield, Vermont bed and breakfast: Sweet Retreat Guesthouse & Sugarworks

Experience Vermont living—relax, explore, and enjoy our 400 scenic acres.

Delight in spectacular views, privacy, and all the comforts of home in our conveniently located private guesthouse with fully equipped kitchen. We invite you to help yourself to fresh veggies from our lush garden in summer, a pumpkin from the patch in fall, a tree from our balsam grove for the holidays, and to complementary Pure Vermont Gold® maple syrup from our sugarhouse throughout your stay. Cook in or eat out—food shopping is six miles away, and fine dining within a ten minute drive.

The large dining room seats up to twelve, making it ideal for entertaining family and friends, or for small business meetings. The pull-out couch in the living room can sleep additional guests.

With seven miles of private trails just out the front door, we invite you to explore the outdoors in every season. Enjoy walking, bird and deer watching, mountain biking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing—or simply relax with a book on the porch while enjoying the view.

We invite to spend some time at the barn visiting with our Brown Swiss show oxen, Jack, Ace, Joker and King. Take a ride in our custom-made ox cart, or watch as the teams train.

In spring, learn how we make Pure Vermont Gold®. Stop by our state-of-the-art sugarhouse to experience the sights, smells and sounds of sugaring as we boil sap into luscious syrup. Taste it warm right off the evaporator--a sweet Vermont experience you will long remember!
