Inn on the Blue Horizon

Vieques, Puerto Rico.

Formerly a Spanish sugar plantation’s Great House, today an enchanting ensemble of houses on the island of Vieques, eight miles from Puerto Rico. Perched on a bluff, overlooking a spectacular swimming pool, affording unparalleled views.

Bed and Breakfast Description

Vieques, Puerto Rico bed and breakfast: Inn on the Blue Horizon

Each of the Inn's 10 rooms with private bath is beautifully designed with quiet privacy in mind. They are decorated with hand-chosen antiques, cotton linens, and original art. Flowing draperies that sway with the tropical breezes complete the ambience.

Arise to the sounds of the surf as it comes to shore beneath our bluff. Stroll to the terrace of the Great House where you will enjoy a delicious tropical breakfast served by our wonderful morning staff.

Emerge from your travel day into total relaxation and and enjoy a "sip" by the magnificent pool as you take in the colors of the Caribbean. The pool is 50' long and has stairs that traverse the entire length and descend to the bottom. Its dramatic yet simple design affords you the freedom to contemplate while sitting on its stairs gazing out to the horizon and beyond.

Since its opening in 1995, the Inn on the Blue Horizon has been the location of choice as the perfect setting for a romantic wedding or commitment ceremony. Being married in Vieques at the Inn is a unique experience, placing the entire wedding party and guests in a natural setting surrounded by the colors of the sea, sky and terrain.

The Inn can accommodate 5 weddings of 2-50 people during the high season (December 15-July 31), and 10 weddings during the low season (August 1-December 14).

Area Attractions and Activities:

Swim the many empty beaches and enjoy the sublime aquamarine waters of the Caribbean Sea and embrace the constant trade winds that make Isla Vieques temperate and perfect year-round.

Try Sun Bay for its long walks where you may dip in and out of the calm water as you stroll, or take a break under a palm tree.

Try Navio Beach for riding the waves and exploring the cliffs and caves or drive out to Punta Arena (Sand Point) for a taste of Tahiti with vistas of the Rain Forest of main island Puerto Rico.

Jog, hike, play tennis and take in some 'birding'. Take a nature tour on horseback or explore the cays by kayak. Enjoy our art galleries and meet the local artisans. Rent a jeep or mountain bike and explore the island and over forty of the most magnificent beaches in the Caribbean. We have great snorkeling and scuba diving and one of the world's most spectacular bio-luminescent bays.
