Bed and Breakfast Description

Rockland, Maine bed and breakfast: Old Granite Inn

A beautiful stone building on Main Street overlooking Rockland Harbor and Penobscot Bay, located in the National Historic District of Rockland, ME, is made of granite cut by local stonecutters, and built by master stonemasons in the mid 1800's. Colorful gardens featuring perennials galore.

Beyond the threshold, the public rooms include the Living Room with its fireplace, extensive woodwork, terrazzo floors, comfortable furniture, and lush plants. The bright and airy dining room, that can accommodate up to 25 people for special occasions, offers a display area for local art and photography. There is also a lounge area with large television and DVD player and the popular “book swap.”

There are eight guest rooms with either king or queen sized beds and the highest-quality bedding. Two rooms on the 2nd floor have a view of Rockland Harbor with its spectacular sunrises. Also on the 2nd floor is our new two-room suite containing a private sitting area with cable television. The suite can accommodate up to a family of four. All of the rooms, but one, have richly appointed private baths.

In the bright and airy dining room, breakfast at the Old Granite Inn is a hearty, healthy, and tasty adventure. Entrées range from different kinds of seafood and vegetable quiche to fruit pancakes with real Maine syrup to crêpes and galettes with a variety of fillings.
