Queen Anne Inn

South Bend, Indiana.

The original Tiger Oak staircase, hand painted silk wallpaper, and Frank Lloyd Wright-designed bookcases still make the interior rich and warm. The wraparound porch, lined with columns, welcomes you to Mabel's home - now the Queen Anne Inn

Bed and Breakfast Description

South Bend, Indiana bed and breakfast: Queen Anne Inn

Samuel Good, a South Bend native, made a fortune from the Gold Rush. He built this Queen Anne Neo-Classical residence in 1893 and gave it to his daughter, Mabel, as a wedding gift. The Frank Lloyd Wright-designed bookcases and ornate stairway with hand-carved newel post are but a few of the outstanding architectural features of the house.

Mabel's seventeen-room house reflects his prominence in banking and industry. The original oak floors, silk wallpaper, and mirrored buffet still make the interior rich and warm. The wrap around porch, lined with columns, welcomes you to Mabel's home-now the Queen Anne Inn.

The Inn offers six spacious air-conditioned bedrooms with private baths. One harbors Good's own wall-safe hidden behind a mirror! Guests may relax and chat in the common rooms or on the wide porches surrounding this historic home.

A full breakfast is usually served from 8:00 - 9:30. Special arrangements may be made for early business appointments.
