Experience the magic of MacMaster House when you step across the threshold of this historic mansion into a timeless world of comfortable elegance and eclectic grace.This surprising sanctuary nestled on prestigious King's Hill in the heart of Portland is adjacent to magnificent Washington Park, home of the famous Japanese and Rose gardens. City Center is minutes away by front-door bus service while fabled 23rd Street, lined with blocks of boutiques, restaurants and art galleries is an easy stroll by foot.

MacMaster House features eclectic murals by local artist Myrna Anderson, lovely "scapes" that enhance the muted greens throughout the home. Spacious bedrooms are handsomely appointed with European antiques or period furnishings, down comforters, bed linens of 800 thread count or better, luxurious robes, and a TV/VCR/DVD.

The Inn features large common areas with many styles of antiques, some original to the house. A spacious parlor room features a large fireplace, plenty of seating for conversation, reading or enjoying a glass of wine. Mingle with other guests or enjoy a quiet corner with a book. Seven fireplaces cozy things up.

A European Style Buffet Breakfast is served daily on Bavarian Haviland china in the elegant dining room between 8:00 – 9:30 am. On weekends, in addition to the buffet, a hot entree is also available.

Area Attractions and Activities:

Whether visiting Portland on business or pleasure you can see Washington Park and the Rose Gardens and Japanese Gardens just a few blocks away. Many shops and restaurants are within walking distance and public transportation is just a few steps away. The river and greenway are just a mile from our door. Take a drive to the beautiful Columbia Gorge or through the Wine Country. Downtown Portland and the gay district are less than a mile away. Easy public transportation to the Convention Center and Rose Quarter Arena. Take in a movie, a concert, see OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry) or the Art Museum. It's just a short ride to the Oregon Zoo and during the Summer their concerts in the Park.

The McCord Suite: A queen bed and additional twin bed. Private bath with oversized soaking tub and separate shower. Balcony and fireplace.

The Writers Retreat: On the third floor. Has a queen brass bed. A cozy chair tucked under the dormer window is perfect for time spent reading or writing.
