Discover why Northwest Best Places, considered by many to be the northwest traveler's bible, rated Run of the River as the only 4-Star inn in the entire northwest. How rare is a 4-Star rating? The only other lodging 4-Star earned in Washington is the Four Seasons in downtown Seattle. (Now, their bell guys do wear fancy uniforms, but then, they're not surrounded by a bird refuge either.)

All suites feature handhewn log king beds, spacious baths with all the fix'n's, Jacuzzi tubs and fireplaces surrounded by river rock and private decks with stunning views of the river, refuge and Cascades.

Guests enjoy active days of hiking, biking, golfing, or rafting, then a relaxing evening on the decks observing wildlife and birdlife that call the refuge home. In winter, downhill, cross country ski or snowshoe. A hot tub under the stars is always ready.

Innkeepers Monty and Karen are avid hikers, bikers and skiers always willing to share their secret spots for guests. Run of the River is an ideal base for side trips to Winthrop, Lake Chelan, Stehekin, and Grand Coulee Dam. We are very quiet... relaxing... smoke-free... and an adult only getaway. A peaceful place to reconnect; a spot to call your own.

Visit the Bavarian Village of Leavenworth!

Hiking: Leavenworth is the gateway to the Icicle Valley and the Snow Lakes Wilderness. The inn provides day packs, hiking sticks, maps, and binoculars to get you going.

Biking: Miles of National Forest roads lace our nearby forest. We also have challenging single track for ambitious riders. Great workouts! For road riders, miles of country roads through the apple orchards wait to be discovered. The inn provides Specialized Mountain Bikes and a Cannondale tandem complimentary.

Down Hill Skiing: Mission Ridge and Stevens Pass are both 35 miles from the inn.

Cross-Country Skiing: The town features 30k of groomed skiing for classic and skate skiing.

Golfing: Three nearby courses to choose from! The Leavenworth Club is just across the river. 18 holes, great scenery. Kahler Glen is an 18 hole course near Lake Wenatchee. Desert Canyon is a destination course above the Colombia an hour from the inn. Scenic, challenging and long.
