Bed and Breakfast Description

Dawn Darlington's grandparents purchased this Lancaster landmark in 1942, and Dawn always dreamed of living in the mansion. In 2006, after an 18-month, million-dollar restoration, she is inviting you to share the history and elegance that is Speedwell Forge.

The Paymaster's Office is the ultimate romantic getaway: a private cottage overlooking the creek, with a king bed, gas fireplace, in-room whirlpool bath, vaulted ceiling & kitchenette. Join us in the mansion for breakfast, or make your own!

The Summer Kitchen is a two-story cottage with a queen bed and whirlpool tub upstairs, and a living room with gas fireplace and cable TV downstairs. The living room converts into two twin beds (children 10 and over, please). This is ideal for couples, families, and friends. Includes a fully-stocked kitchenette.

Kathryn's Room, the master bedroom in the mansion, includes a canopy queen bed, romantic fireplace, and clawfoot whirlpool bath for two that just has to be seen to be believed.

The Boys' Room includes two "three-quarter" bed (between a twin and a full) perfect for women traveling together. This room has a full bath with tub, table, electric fireplace, and two chairs.

Bill's room has an excellent view, a queen-sized antique sleigh bed, cable TV, private bath (shower only), and sitting area. In-room coffee maker available on request. Perfect for couples, single travelers, and business travelers.
