Cinnamon Mornings and Chocolate Dreams

Yield: 6 servings 

Ingredients:
Syrup:
1 3/4 cups water
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons butter
Dash salt
1 teaspoon vanilla

Dumplings:
1 cup flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup milk
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup chopped pecans

Syrup:
In small saucepan, combine water, sugar, brown sugar, butter & salt. Bring to boiling. Add vanilla. Keep hot over low heat while mixing dumplings.

Dumplings:
Preheat oven to 375°F. Stir together flour, sugar, baking powder & salt. Combine milk & oil; add all at once to dry ingredients. Stir just until combined. Stir in chocolate chips & nuts. Pour hot syrup into an 8"-square baking dish. Drop 12 dumplings into syrup. Bake at 375°F for 25 minutes until done. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
